Fashion Week is an event where international designers display their productions as a way to “introduce and influence new upcoming trends,” stated junior Christina Claverie-Williams. These weeks are held in different cities around the world including New York. Tartan Claverie-Williams attended this year’s New York Fashion Week in September.

Claverie-Williams works for Burberry and Art Heart Fashion. “Burberry is a line which is based in London. Art Hearts Fashion is a production company based out of LosAngeles that sponsors productions for New York Fashion Week, Los Angeles Fashion Week, and Miami Swim Week,” she explained.

Both companies benefit this Tartan in many ways. With Burberry, Claverie-Williams expressed that she was able to work with talented designers and writers. Given this line’s internationality, she revealed that she has learned “a lot about the economic and cultural context of design and how different parts of the world market and merchandise.”

The junior continued by saying that Arts and Hearts Fashion has given her “many great opportunities especially helping at productions to raise money for children across the world with sicknesses.”

A typical day at Fashion Week for Claverie-Williams consisted of checking her agenda, helping set up for events, and escorting the Press and Risers (such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, the New York Times) to their seats. “After the events were over, I would stay to help the designers clean up and confirm the guests for the next day,” concluded Claverie-Williams.

With this opportunity, Claverie-Williams was able to get a taste of the career path she would like to take related to this event. “I would like to go to college and pursue a degree in something related to communications, or international relations. I would also like to pursue more writing. I would like to use this to do more with marketing in the future,” she shared.
