Over sixty LOTAs from the Holy Cross Pro-Life club marched for the protection of all life at the 46th annual March for Life in Washington, DC.

Club members met early Friday, January 18 and traveled together to express their opposition to abortion, euthanasia, the death penalty, and other ethical policies. Full of passion and determination, the self-proclaimed “pro-life generation” gathered for a Mass and rally at the Capitol One Arena, followed by a public rally on the National Mall and a march towards the Capitol building.

Senior Grace McCord, co-president of the Pro Life Club at Holy Cross, discussed her enthusiasm for the event. “The March was amazing,” McCord expressed. “A lot of girls show up, and having one another around for support in the process is really nice”.

McCord credited faculty members Donna Reese and Emily Teter for coordinating the school trip. “They put in a lot of time,” she shared.

McCord hopes that students continue to take part in this group experience, which she says feels like sisterhood. She also wants to coordinate more activities for the club throughout the year, such as guest speakers.

Junior Beza Solomon revealed that this was her fifth year attending the march. She began in middle school with her class, but realized that she was passionate about attending and really believed in the pro life ideals once she reached high school.

“I really like hearing people’s stories,” Solomon shared. She was impressed by the turnout at the event this year.

Solomon also acknowledge the distance that many traveled in order to attend the march. She added, “It’s pretty crazy that people came all the way from Australia.”

Like McCord, she appreciates the group mentality that comes with attending as a school group. Both Solomon and McCord plan on continuing to attend the march in the future.
