Accepted Students’ Night is a variety of activities and entertainment in the Student Commons to welcome the accepted students of the incoming class. The event allows the current LOTAs to connect with the incoming class of 2028.
The biggest hope for this event is that the girls will “make Holy Cross their home for the next four years,” expressed Nancy Salmeron, the Assistant Director of Admissions.
It takes a great deal of preparation and time from the admissions department to put on Accepted Students Night.
We talk to “ninth graders to see what they liked about their Accepted Students Night, the student ambassadors, and many teachers,” Salmeron commented.
Going into the event Bess McIntyre, a freshman, was one of the current LOTAs welcoming the visitors.
“I was excited to meet all the incoming students,” McIntyre shared.
The teachers enjoy the event as much as the students do. Patricia Petruzelli, the freshman theology teacher as well as an alum from the class of 1979, was one of the faculty members helping at the event and explained that it is one of her favorite events at the school.
“The enthusiasm of the current and prospective girls, as well as the high energy, it really was really an exhilarating experience,” Petruzelli commented excitedly.
As well as watching the hyper energy from the girls, the staff also see this as an opportunity to be introduced to their future students.
“It’s great to meet and welcome the girls that I am most likely going to teach,” Petruzzelli expressed.
The event is especially beneficial to the incoming class as it is an opportunity to get to know the school and potential classmates.
“They get to figure out if they like the all girls social scene and if they can see themselves coming here for the next four years,” Salmeron expressed.
In addition to shadow visits, sports night, and other admission events, the evening gives prospective students another opportunity to learn more about the school.
They can see if it will set them up “to be successful in their future because of what was offered here,” Petruzzeli stated.
If the prospective students decide that they enjoyed their past experiences, they may come to this event to decide if they see themselves going to school at Holy Cross.
“We hope that the girls that decided to apply will make AHC their home for the next four years,” Salmeron stated.
A goal is that as the visitors enjoy getting to know Holy Cross, they feel welcomed into the LOTA community.
“That the new students are as vibrant as our current classes and filled with young women who will love their time here,” Pettruzzelli expressed.
The evening was a positive positive event with fun activities that new and current students appreciated.
“It was awesome meeting all the girls and I’m looking forward to next year,” McIntyre remarked.
The goal of the evening is that the incoming girls will enjoy their next four years and make lots of lifelong friends.
“We hope they will one day become alums like myself,” Petruzzeli enthusiastically remarked.
